This evergreen legume is a 'pioneer'—it thrives in poor soil, fixes nitrogen to fertilize its neighbors, and provides high-protein fodder for livestock.
In late winter/early spring, its vanilla-scented white and yellow flowers are a lifeline for bees when little else is blooming.
Used these to rehab a dry patch of dirt. Two years later, the soil is dark and rich, and my bees are ecstatic every spring.
