Lion's Ear (Leonotis leonurus)

$39.58 - $83.6

Bold, architectural, and slightly otherworldly.

The Lion's Ear produces towering stems topped with tiered 'whorls' of fuzzy, neon-orange flowers that look like something out of a Dr.

Seuss book.

It is a fast-growing, sun-loving shrub that provides much-needed height and 'wow factor' to the back of a garden border.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I stop it from getting messy?
Prune it back to about 30cm from the ground after the flowers fade in late autumn. It will reward you with fresh, tidy growth in the spring.
Does it attract birds?
Yes, the deep nectar tubes are perfectly shaped for the beaks of sunbirds and honeyeaters.

Needs maintenance

The flowers are stunning, but if you don't prune it, it becomes a woody mess within two years. Great plant, just don't be lazy with the shears!

Neon orange joy

People stop and ask me what this is every time they walk by. It’s incredibly vibrant and survives on almost no water.
